Extra Tips to Consider When Shopping for Health Insurance Florida

Health needs can change each year, and so can your health insurance coverage choices. We know how important it is to understand your options and can help you find the best coverage that fits your exact needs and budget. Since fall open enrollment is around the corner, we listed a few tips to consider when choosing your health insurance plan.

Understand your options

Whether shopping for a plan for the first time or simply evaluating your current plan, it’s important to take the time to understand and compare the benefits, services, and costs of each plan to help find what will work best for you. We can take of this for you easily and can help you stay informed, understand the health insurance lingo, and make sure to help answer questions about eligibility, plan choices, cost basics, prescription coverage, and more.

Check your prescription benefits

We can help you get the most out of your prescription benefits to help manage costs by looking into lower-cost alternative that may be available such as discounts, generics, and more. We can also help you find out whether you can save by filling your prescriptions at a participating network pharmacy or with mail delivery.

Anticipate next year’s health expenses

If you’re expecting a significant health change in the next year like a major diagnosis, surgery, or the birth of a child for example, we can help compare the differences between plan designs, including out-of-pocket maximums.

Consider an insurance plan with the convenience of virtual care

If you’re like most Americans, juggling work, kids, schedules, and other responsibilities, you may want to consider connecting with your doctor from the convenience of your home. We can help you select a plan that includes 24/7 virtual care, designed to be an easier, more affordable way to communicate with doctors over common health issues.

Check for mental health coverage

Now more than ever, mental health has become a forefront in importance for caring for your overall well-being. In addition to in-person care, there are plans that allow access to a large virtual health network of therapists and psychiatrists, often with $0 copay.

Consider wellness programs

Many health insurance plans now offer incentives that reward individuals on making healthier choices and actions like completing health surveys, exercising or avoiding nicotine. Some plans may even offer gym memberships and wellness programs to members at no additional cost.

Specialty benefits

Additional benefits like dental, vision, hearing or critical illness insurance are often available to help protect you and your loved ones, while contributing to overall well-being.

Short-Term Insurance Plans for Coral Springs, South Florida

Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace Insurance

This comprehensive health care reform law enacted in March 2010 (sometimes known as ACA, PPACA, or “Obamacare”) has three primary goals for someone who is in need of health insurance:

  • Make affordable health insurance available to more people. The law provides consumers with subsidies (“premium tax credits”) that lower costs for households with incomes between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level (FPL).
    • If your income is above 400% FPL, you may still qualify for the premium tax credit in 2022.
    • If your income is at or below 150% FPL, you may qualify to enroll in or change Marketplace coverage through a Special Enrollment Period.
  • Expand the Medicaid program to cover all adults with income below 138% of the FPL. (Not all states have expanded their Medicaid programs.)
  • Support innovative medical care delivery methods designed to lower the costs of health care generally.

The great news about coverage through the marketplace is that we are able to take the minutia out of your search and help you find the subsidies you can qualify for and the right plan for you! We will help you determine first if you are eligible to use the marketplace, help you preview health prices and prices to get an estimate, explain what each marketplace plan covers, including treatment for pre-existing medical conditions and other essential health benefits, when you are eligible for enrollment, and help after your coverage begins.

Protecting your family’s health is priority, but also important is your wallet! It’s important to protect your wallet from unexpected healthcare costs. Thankfully, we can help you select a family health insurance plan that keeps both your family and finances healthy.

Medicare

Dun, dun dunnnnn! The dreaded word — Medicare! If you are turning 65, it’s important to understand your Medicare process, your coverage, benefits, and the steps to take to make sure you’re set up for your golden years.

Medicare is a federal health insurance program that offers benefits to American citizens as well as permanent legal residents (of a minimum of 5 consecutive years) aged 65 and older, or those who have a qualifying illness or disability.

A majority of people are automatically enrolled in Original Medicare, Part A, and Part B when they reach eligibility. On the other hand, some people need to enroll in Medicare manually. In simple words, Medicare Part A is basically hospital insurance, whereas Medicare Part B is medical insurance.

What information do I need to get started?

Begin by gathering this information so it is available when you actually need it:
