Due to the possibility of Democrats in Congress not being able to resurrect parts of their social spending and climate package bill, many Americans can potentially see their health insurance premiums skyrocket at the beginning of 2023.
Part of the Build Back Better Bill, was generous new funding to help with subsidies for those without employer-based insurance get coverage in the healthcare marketplace, also known as ObamaCare.
Without an updated social spending bill though, the current subsidies are set to expire on December 31, 2022 and with the next open enrollment for Obamacare opening up on November 1st, voters would only learn about these soaring insurance bills a week before the mid term elections.
People could potentially see $800 or more yearly increases on individual premium plans and three million could see their health insurance coverage removed completely due to the lack of Federal funding.
Lawmakers must act by mid this summer to ensure that all the states and insurers have enough time to setup their updated enrollment periods.
