Moving to Florida

By Evan Tunis | Florida Healthcare Insurance

Americans move to Florida for a variety of reasons, and it’s essential to note that motivations can vary from person to person, it’s not just sunshine and lifestyle!

Iโ€™ve certainly noticed in my work though, that I get plenty of calls from people looking for medicare and health insurance, as they relocate to Florida and are looking to sort out finance, insurances etc as they get ready to move.

Some of the main reasons people choose to move to Florida, based on my conversations, include:

1. Climate and Lifestyle:

Florida’s warm climate and abundant sunshine are major attractions, especially for those seeking to escape colder northern climates. Did you know that Florida averages around 237 sunny days per year!

The state offers outdoor activities year-round, including beaches, water sports, golf, and more, which can significantly contribute to a desirable lifestyle, with the highlight being a very mild Winter.

2. Retirement and Senior Living:

Florida is a popular destination for retirees due to its warm climate, no state income tax, and a plethora of retirement communities and senior living options.

The state offers a relaxed and comfortable environment for older individuals.

In 2022, Florida was ranked the 2nd best state to retire to in the USA.  (source)

With lower cost of living, good tax rules, a nice climate, and plenty of outdoor living, you can understand why seniors move to Florida!

Are there any reasons NOT to move to Florida?

Of course, there will be people who donโ€™t suit Florida and the lifestyle it affords.

Heat, wildlife, growing population, and traffic are all mentioned in this article HERE.

People also mention the cost of living and climate change, but those issues are probably everywhere on planet earth at the moment.
