Coverage Built Around Your Household
Compare individual and family health insurance in Florida with guidance on networks, costs, and enrollment.
Understanding HMO, PPO, EPO and POS networks
An HMO usually focuses care within a network and may require referrals. A PPO generally permits some out-of-network care at a higher cost. An EPO typically covers non-emergency care only in its network, while a POS combines managed primary care with some out-of-network options. The actual plan documents—not the initials alone—control referrals, exceptions and costs.
What major medical coverage includes
ACA-compliant individual plans cover essential health benefit categories, including hospitalization, emergency services, prescription drugs, mental health care and preventive services. They cannot reject an applicant because of a pre-existing condition. Short-term policies are different and should not be described as equivalent major medical coverage.
A household-level cost comparison
List everyone who needs coverage and estimate recurring appointments, expected procedures and medications. Then compare total yearly cost in a routine year and a more expensive year, including what you would pay before reaching the plan's out-of-pocket limit.
